What We Believe

THE BIBLE

The Bible, the 66 Books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God. As such it is our source of belief and instruction for Christian conduct (2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12).

GOD

God, the Creator, has always existed and always will (Psalms 90:2). He is One, but exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Deuteronomy 6:4, Hebrews 1:8, Acts 5:1-5). He is all-powerful and knows everything (Matthew 28:18-20, Psalms 147:5). He is everywhere (Psalms 139) and rules with sovereignty (Acts 17:24ff), grace (Ephesians 2:8-9), mercy (Titus 3:5) and love (John 3:16).

JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ is the Son of God (Hebrews 1:8.) He became human through the miracle of the virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14.) He lived a sinless life, died on the cross, shedding His blood to pay the penalty for our sin, rose from the grave to give us a new life and to provide victory over death. He ascended into heaven to take His place at the right hand of God, the Father, the place of authority, where He “ever lives to intercede for us.” (See Ephesians 1:7, Romans 6:4-6, Ephesians 2:1-10, Hebrews 7:25).

SALVATION

Jesus Christ came to provide salvation for humans (John 3:16.) This salvation begins when a person receives Jesus Christ into his life. At that time his sins are forgiven (Ephesians 1:7) and he is born again by the Spirit of God (John 3:5). As a believer walks out his salvation, he walks in intimacy with God, becomes more like Jesus, begins to live out his God-ordained destiny and will someday live eternally in heaven.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The Holy Spirit is a Person and the third Person in the Trinity. When Jesus ascended into heaven, the Holy Spirit descended to earth to assist believers to live the Christian life (John 14-16). He enters a person’s life when he is born again (Romans 8:9). He empowers the believer to be like Jesus in character (Galatians 5:22-23) and in power for ministry (Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 12 and Romans 12). A person begins to walk in this power as he is baptized in/filled with the Holy Spirit.

THE KINGDOM OF GOD

God has always desired to establish His Kingdom in all the earth (Genesis 1:26-28). He has commanded His disciples to make disciples in every nation of the world (Matthew 28:18-20). He not only wants to touch individuals, but He also desires to bring transformation to entire cities and nations so that every strata of society will come under the righteous rule and reign of our mercy-filled God.

THE BODY OF CHRIST

The Body of Christ is made up of every person from every nation and every denomination who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. God desires His Body to gather in local congregations in order to worship God, to receive instruction, and to be equipped for and released into ministry (Ephesians 4:1-16). God also desires His Body to function as one in every way they can, in order to gather into a mighty army whose purpose is to extend the Kingdom of God to every tongue, tribe and nation (Ephesians 3:14-20, Psalms 133.)
